Adrian Peterson will go down as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. And while he may be at the twilight of his Hall of Fame career spent primarily with the Minnesota Vikings, he still has something left in the tank. Not properly utilized in the Saints offense, AP was recently traded to the Arizona Cardinals to replace their injured star back David Johnson. His 134-yard, 2-TD debut immediately quieted the doubters and proved that the 32-year-old will continue to bring it “All Day” if given the right opportunity.

At the University of Oklahoma, Peterson was a superstar right out of the gates, rushing for an NCAA record 1,925 yards as a true freshman in 2004 and finishing second in the Heisman voting. In just three years of college ball (2004-06), AP became the Sooners' third all-time leading rusher. Featured here is 2004-06 game-used Sooners No. 28 helmet attributed to the great Adrian Peterson. It comes from a museum collection at the San Diego Hall of Champions, which sourced many helmets and other items directly from teams at the annual Holiday Bowl game played locally. There were no internal notes about this helmet belonging to Peterson; however, our research indicates that AP was the only Sooner to wear #28 during his time there. The Sooners beat the Oregon Ducks 17-14 in the Holiday Bowl on December 28, 2005. A style match from a different game during the 2005 season is listed.

The Riddell helmet has a glistening Boomer Sooner colored red shell with the “OU” logo decal on both sides. No. “28” decals appear on the rear above the “OKLAHOMA” neck pad. Two Big 12 Conference decals flank the rear uniform number, with the “XII” sticker on the left and the 10th anniversary 1996-2006 sticker (worn during the 2005 season) on the right. An American flag sticker is also affixed on the back left. An “OKLAHOMA” sticker covers the Riddell forehead logo. The white facemask, which is a style that Peterson used, has “04” dated clips. The chinstrap is missing. The helmet shows light use overall, with a few nicks and scratches to the exterior surface.
