A great multi-gamer worn by one of the most dominant pitchers of the modern era, Greg Maddux. From 1992 to 1995, Maddux won the Cy Young Award every year, a feat unmatched to this day. In 2002, Maddux recorded his 15th straight season of winning 15 or more games. Worn during that ’02 season, this jersey has been photo matched to the games of April 17th, May 15th, May 21st and May 31st of the 2002 season. In the April 17th game, Maddux faced the Mets at Shea Stadium. He pitched a scoreless inning as the Braves edged the Mets, 2-1. On May 15th, Maddux won his 4th game of the season, holding the Giants to 5 hits in 8 innings. On May 21st, he wore this jersey in Montreal as he pitched 6 innings of the no-decision 10-inning loss to the Expos. Finally, on May 31st, Maddux donned this jersey as he pitched 5 innings of the 7-0 shutout win over the Reds at Cinergy Field. The win was Maddux’s 5th of an eventual 16-6 record. The classic Braves road jersey has “Atlanta” across the chest in red and navy tackle twill above the red, navy and gold tackle twill tomahawk. Red and navy trim runs down the front and sleeve ends. The Russell label is sewn on the front left tail with “+2 EXTRA LENGTH,” size “46” and “2-02” strip tags affixed. The back has “MADDUX” in navy tackle twill on a white name plate above his number “31” in red and navy tackle twill. The tackle twill shows some edge fraying and puckering from laundering and there are loose threads found throughout. A true Hall of Fame gamer. The jersey comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication for the game used authenticity and a worksheet detailing the photo match.
