The 1998 New York Yankees, managed by Joe Torre, recorded a season to remember. After running away with the American League East Division title with a 114-win regular season, a full 22 games ahead of the runner-up Boston Red Sox, the Yankees cut through the A.L. playoffs like a buzz saw. After sweeping the Texas Rangers in three straight games in the ALDS, they proceeded to dispose of the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS in six games. This set the stage for the Yankees to claim their second Fall Classic in three years, which they did quite easily one week later.
Presented here is a 1998 New York Yankees World Series championship ring made of solid 10K yellow gold by Balfour. It was awarded to one of the Yankee organization’s staffers after the Bronx Bombers won the 1998 World Series with a four-game sweep of the National League Champion San Diego Padres. The ring features the New York Yankees symbol encrusted with .24 carats of sparkling natural diamonds on a blue stone and surrounded with .48 carats of natural diamonds; bringing the total carat weight to .72 carats of natural sparkling brilliant diamonds. The ring is inscribed on one shank with “125-50” (the Yankees’ record for the entire year), along with the Yankees logo and the words “BEST EVER” indicating it was the most wins ever compiled by a major league team in one season. The other shank features the staffer’s last name along with the World Series trophy in the center of Yankee Stadium and the word “TRADITION” at the bottom. The size 11 ring is in excellent condition, weighs 32 grams and comes packaged inside its original presentation box. This is a must-have ring for any die-hard New York Yankees fan.
