The five-year old Florida Marlins combined the wily leadership of manager Jim Leyland with a team built through shrewd draft picks, trades, and talented free agents. They won the NL Wild Card - then became the first Wild Card team to reach the World Series by sweeping the Giants and shocking the Braves. The Marlins then faced a World Series match up with a Cleveland Indians team that was a bit of an underdog themselves. The exciting series went seven games before Edgar Renteria's game winning hit in extra innings sent all of Florida into a state of delirious celebration. This 12" high miniature World Series trophy was among a limited number produced for Marlins players and team executives. Pennants representing all the teams in the league surround a gold crown above a silver baseball. Florida Marlin and Cleveland Indian World Series press pins stand in front. NM-MT condition.
