The 1994 FIFA World Cup was the first held on U.S. soil and came down to a memorable Final between two world soccer powers. On July 17 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, Brazil and Italy played to a scoreless tie before Seleção prevailed on penalties (3-2) for their unprecedented fourth world title. Featured here is a special 2002 FIFA World Cup Bertoni trophy presented only to players, coaches and elite staff members from the Brazil National Football team. Led by star midfielder Dunga (team captain) and the lethal striker combination of Romario and Bebeto, Brazil cruised through the group stage before winning close matches in the knockout rounds and sweating through a tight Final.

This smaller-sized version of the official FIFA World Cup trophy in a solid, gold-colored metal features an athletic figure with arms raised in triumph and a globe on top. The front bottom is engraved "FIFA WORLD CUP" and the rear bottom is hallmarked with famed Milan manufacturer "BERTONI - MILANO" and "© F.I.F.A." A gold plaque on the 5x5x4 cm black marble base has "XV FIFA WORLD CUP USA 94" along with the 1994 tournament logo. The rear side of the base has a tiny "BERTONI - MILANO" plaque. The well-crafted trophy (made of a high-quality metal composition) stands 15 cm tall and weighs 566 grams (20 oz.). The trophy presents in EX overall condition with two corner chips to the marble base and light-to-moderate tarnishing/oxidation on the gold-colored trophy. It should be noted that we sold a 2002 example of this Bertoni trophy in our last auction auction for $12,131 (case included).

Includes LOA from Brazil National Team (CBF) Technical Coordinator, who is also the nephew of former CBF President Ricardo Teixeira.
