In 1992, Portland Trail Blazers’ superstar Clyde Drexler became a member of the greatest basketball team ever assembled: the U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball “Dream Team.” Coached by Chuck Daly, the team boasted 11 future NBA Hall of Fame players including Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and Drexler and proceeded to beat each of their opponents during the Olympic competition in Barcelona, Spain, by an average of 44 points. They defeated Croatia in the championship game by the score of 117-85, following earlier blowouts by the following margins: Angola (68 points); Croatia (the first time, 33); Germany (43); Brazil (44); Spain (41); Puerto Rico (38); and Lithuania (51). The 6’ 7” Drexler, playing at shooting guard, wound up averaging 10.5 points and 3.6 assists per game for the eight games in which he played.

This lot features Drexler’s 1992 USA Olympic Basketball Dream Team game-worn blue jersey and matching shorts. The size 44 Champion nylon mesh jersey shows game wear and includes the proper tagging on the left front tail including the USA Basketball Champion tag, a special adjoining tag reading “DESIGNED AND TAILORED EXCLUSIVELY FOR 1992 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES,” and a separate Champion manufacturer’s tag (size 44) that includes washing instructions. The jersey shows moderate game use. The team name "USA BASKETBALL" along with Drexler’s Olympic team uniform number "10" are screen pressed in Appliqué on the front in red with white trim, with the collar and arms trimmed in red, white and navy blue. On the reverse, his last name appears in whited above his number “10” in red with white trim. An embroidered red-white-and-blue Champion patch can be found on the left shoulder. Remnants of an adhesive substance that was used to showcase the jersey remain in certain areas.

The accompanying blue Champion shorts (size 36) are tagged on the rear inside seam of the waistband and include a “100% NYLON” strip tag. In addition, on an inside seam on the back of the shorts rests another strip tag that includes Drexler’s uniform number “10” written in black ink on one side, with “2 Inch Extra Inseam” printed on the other. Sporting a red strip down either side of the shorts, the team name of “USA Basketball” is screen pressed in Appliqué in navy blue with white trim. The shorts are in great condition and the original draw strong remains intact.

LOA from Clyde Drexler.
