Offered here is a classic early 1990's gamer swung by perennial batting champ Tony Gwynn during the height of his Hall of Fame career. "Mr. Padre" was arguably the best pure hitter in baseball history, finishing his career with 20 seasons in which he struck out less than 40 times. With eight NL batting titles to his credit and a career .338 average, Gwynn was an easy first-ballot selection to Cooperstown in 2007. He was also a regular at the Midsummer Classic, started in the outfield in 15 All-Star games.
This Louisville Slugger Tony Gwynn professional model ash bat (32.75" and 30 oz.) is un-cracked with evidence of light to moderate usage. Some ball marks and black ink transfers are visible on the barrel. Bat rack streaks are also present. Gwynn's player number "19" and the model number "C263)" are clearly written in black marker on the top of the barrel. The same notations appear on the knob as well, although the pen marks are faded and bleeding. Gwynn has signed in faded 6/10 black marker above his name insignia stamp on the barrel. Includes LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (GU 7). Autograph is pre-certified by Beckett.
