ADDENDUM: Please note that the heading for this lot differs from the printed catalog. The cleats are not signed. The last name "Sandberg" written on the tongue of both cleats was intended for identification.

This pair of Nike cleats was worn by Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, who established himself as a perennial All-Star and Gold Glove candidate, making 10 consecutive All-Star appearances and winning nine consecutive Gold Gloves from 1983 to 1991. His career .989 fielding percentage is a major-league record at second base. Sandberg was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005. Contents These Size 9 1/2 blue leather shoes have the Nike Swoosh white leather highlight striping down each side. "Nike Air" is imprinted on the back of each heel in white and also in white stitch embroidery on the front of each tongue flap. His No. 23 has been hand written in black marker above the Nike logo on the flaps. The shoes show considerable game use and are problem-free, with white laces intact and without incident. The name "Sandberg" is written (not in his hand) in silver Sharpie on the outside of the blue leather tongue flaps for player identification.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
