Presented here is a Larry Bird game-worn home warm-up suit from the 1989-90 campaign when the “Hick from French Lick” led the Boston Celtics to a 52-30 record and 4th place finish in the East. The Celtics fell short against the New York Knicks in the playoffs and it marked the end of a dominant run during the 1980s. For the season, Larry Legend averaged 24.3 PPG, 9.5 RPG, and 7.5 APG to earn his tenth All-Star selection.
The white button-up jacket has proper Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tagging with size 46 indicated inside the rear collar. Adjacent is the "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics" tag, which is partially detached. There are two additional strip tags, one blank and the other denoting the season ("89"). Across the chest is “CELTICS” pressed on in green with yellow outline. On the upper right chest is the official NBA embroidered logo. On each sleeve is the team’s iconic Shamrock logo pressed on in green with yellow outline. Straight across the upper back is “BIRD” in white tackle twill on a green nameplate. The sleeves ends and collar are elastic ribbed with green stripes.
The matching white button-up pants have the Sand-Knit tagging indicating size 34 inside the rear waistband. Adjacent is the "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Boston Celtics" tag. There are three additional embroidered strip tags: "36 IN" [length]; "89”; and a blank white tag with Bird’s player number “33” written in black marker. Bird’s player number “33” is sewn on the upper right thigh in green tackle twill next to the official NBA embroidered logo. Green and yellow piping runs down the sides of each leg. The original drawstring is present. All elements of this full warm-up suit appear to be original and as-issued. Each garment displays appropriate light-to-moderate usage commonly found on pre-game uniform items. This set comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
