Former MLB first baseman Will “The Thrill” Clark recorded an impressive season in 1988 for the San Francisco Giants, belting 29 home runs with a league-leading 109 RBI to earn a starting nod in the Midsummer Classic for the National League. It was the first of five straight All-Star campaigns for the sweet-swinging lefty from New Orleans. Forever a fan favorite in the City by the Bay, Clark enjoyed a very successful career that some might call Hall-of-Fame worthy. He finished his 15 years in the Big Leagues with a .303 lifetime average and 2,176 hits to go along with six All-Star appearances and four top-5 finishes in NL MVP voting. This lot features an early Clark game used bats from one of his better power campaigns in '88.

The 34-inch Rawlings/Adirondack ash bat (model 460A) weighs 34.2 ounces and shows plenty of evidence of game use. Sporting its flame-burned finish, the bat boasts several ball marks and ball stitch impressions that are visible throughout the barrel. Some of those ball marks include black ink transfers. Also visible on the bat is a distinct impression from a weighted batting donut as well as a light coat of pine tar on the handle. Its model number (460A), order number (016) and year (8) are all stamped into the knob. Its weight of “33” ounces is written on the knob in black ink. Great early-career gamer from one of the purest hitters of his era.

Includes LOA from bat expert John Taube of PSA/DNA with a grade of GU 9. Also comes with a letter of provenance from the daughter of a longtime MLB executive whose name will be revealed to the winning bidder.
