This original salesman's sample 1988 Kirk Gibson World Series ring, manufactured by Balfour, is identical in design to the actual rings presented to the Los Angeles Dodgers players and executives in 1988. Crafted in 10k gold, the front of the ring features a baseball diamond design with a cz at center, set upon a blue stone. Encircling the blue stone is a ring of smaller synthetic stones. Lettering in raised relief on the perimeter of the face reads, "World Champion Dodgers 1988." The left shank features the name "Gibson" above the interlocking "LA" logo and Gibson's number 23. The right shank displays the Dodgers script logo above a rendering of a World Series trophy. All of the lettering and designs are in raised relief. Engraved on the interior band are the company's "Balfour 10k" marking and the ring's serial number. This desirable high quality ring commemorates the Series that is best remembered for Kirk Gibson's dramatic pinch-hit, game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off Oakland relief ace Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 at Dodger Stadium. NM condition. Size: Approximately 11.5 (38g).
