The late, great Tony Gwynn was arguably the best pure hitter in baseball history. With eight National League batting titles to his credit and a career .338 average, Gwynn was an easy first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee into Cooperstown in 2007. In 20 different MLB seasons, he never struck out more than 40 times in any one campaign. He was also a perennial All-Star Game selection and started in 15 Mid-Summer Classics. Featured here is one of the bats "Mr. Padre" swung in 1987 when he won his second of eight NL batting crowns with a .370 average. He also led the NL in hits with 218, stole 56 bags, scored 119 times and had an amazing 82 walks versus just 35 strikeouts.

The Louisville Slugger Tony Gwynn professional model G168 bat (32.5", 28.5 oz.) is un-cracked with evidence of moderate use. Several ball marks are visible on the right and back barrel. Ball marks include black ink transfers. There is a light coat of pine tar on the mid to upper handle. Gwynn's player number (19) and "GWYNN" are written on the knob in black marker. "19" is again marked in black pen on the barrel end. Gwynn's genuine autograph in lovely 9-10/10 black marker appears on the upper barrel. Sourced from an esteemed Padre/Gwynn collector. Includes LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA confirming use by Gwynn. Full LOA from PSA/DNA for autograph (AG01609).
