Presented here is an amazing piece from one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA: Larry Bird. His rivalry with fellow Hall of Famer Magic Johnson helped revitalize a sagging NBA as the 1970's came to a close, and much of the decade of the 1980's belonged to one "Larry Legend." By the time he retired after 13 stellar seasons, Bird had three NBA Championships on his resume, along with three consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, two NBA Finals MVP Awards, 12 All-Star selections and a spot on the 50 Greatest NBA Players list. Toss in a career averages of 24.3 points, 10 rebounds and 6.3 assists and it's easy to see why Bird is put on a pedestal in Boston, Indiana and beyond like few other athletes of our time.
Like the man himself, this game-worn home white warm-up jacket is nothing short of sensational, with "CELTICS" emblazoned across the front in heat-screened Celtic green with a gold and orange border. "BIRD" is across the back in white tackle twill affixed to a green nameplate. The Celtics cloverleaf is heat-screened on each shoulder in green with an orange border. Green and white knit trim is found on the collar and sleeves. Appropriate dual Sand-Knit Size 46 tagging is located inside the rear collar with adjacent "87" year and 2" LB (extra length) strip tags. All seven white metal snaps are intact and revealing barely a whisper of any scratching or chipping. The jacket shows appropriate wear for a warm-up piece. It was presented to us washed and largely as-issued, save for a couple of tiny holes above the front letters (perhaps from being pinned up in a framed display).
