ADDENDUM: Description updated with a few corrections and more details of the heavy amount of wear present.

Zico (Arthur Antunes Coimbra) was one of the best footballers in the world from the late 1970's to early 80's. Many soccer pundits view Zico as Brazil's greatest player since Pelé, and that includes Pelé himself who stated, "Throughout the years, the one player that came closest to me was Zico." The attacking midfielder was the second Brazilian after Pelé to wear the famous No. 10 jersey and was known for his creativity, playmaking and technical skills. He was also a clinical finisher and deadly free-kick specialist, tallying 157 goals in 288 games in Italy's Serie A (1971-89) and 48 goals in 71 caps for Brazil (1976-86). FIFA ranked Zico #8 on its 1999 Player of the 20th Century list.

Presented here is Zico's Brazil match-worn shirt from the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. It was his last appearance on the world's biggest stage as well as his final season with the National Team. Brazil lost to France on penalty kicks in the Quarterfinals. The short-sleeved yellow shirt with a green collar and green ribbed elastic sleeve ends has the CBF (Brazil Football Confederation) crest and "BRASIL" on the left chest, its three green stars indicating the number of World Cups Brazil had won at that point (1958, '62 & '70). The logo for manufacturer Topper appears on the right chest, with the brand's tagging and wash instructions faintly legible in Portuguese inside the collar alongside a barely readable size 10 flag tag. The reverse has the coveted No. "10" in green block outlined numbers. Each logo and number is done in applique on the yellow fabric. The jersey shows outstanding wear with heavy pilling throughout the body and multiple team repairs along the seams of the left and right sleeves. You can tell Zico got a ton of use out of this shirt!

Includes LOA from MEARS and letter of provenance from the Brazil National Team’s Technical Coordinator, who is also the nephew of former CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) President Ricardo Teixeira.
