In 1986, the Houston Astros won the National League Western Division title with a regular-season record of 99-66, their third division crown in seven seasons. Although they lost in the N.L.C.S. in six games to the eventual World Series Champion New York Mets, it was a memorable season on many fronts including the fact that the Astros hosted the Mid-Summer Classic on July 15 at the Astrodome. One of the mainstays of that year’s team was a then 39-year-old Nolan Ryan. The star right-hander went 12-8 on the season, recorded a 3.34 ERA and fanned 194 batters along the way.

This lot features the Hall of Famer’s Houston Astros game-worn home jersey from that season. The beige knit pullover V-neck jersey is sporting the 1986 All-Star Game embroidered patch on the left sleeve sewn on top of the team’s rainbow stripes (orange, red and golden) that season on the sleeves. A size "44" W.A. Goodman and Sons label is located in the lower left front tail, complete with washing instructions included. "Astros" is stitched across the front chest in navy-blue-on-white tackle twill with the Texas lone star located on the lower left front in similar navy-blue-on-white` tackle twill. On the back on the jersey is a sewn-on beige nameplate ("RYAN") is arched in 3" tall navy blue tackle twill letters. Ryan’s legendary "34" uniform number is sewn onto the back in navy-blue-on-white tackle twill. The jersey shows moderate game use with just minimal fraying to the number and letters.

Includes Letter of Authenticity from MEARS which has awarded this jersey its highest grade: A10.
