13 years since his retirement, Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton remains the NBA's career assist leader with 15,806. This lot features a 1986-87 Utah Jazz game-worn sweater/warm-up jacket attributed to Stockton during his third NBA season. The MacGregor Sand-Knit purple button-down sweater has the patented Jazz logo sewn in yellow tackle twill on the left breast with yellow, green and white stripes that wrap-around the mid-torso and back. The sewn-on NBA embroidered logo man patch resides on the right chest area. A second, larger Jazz logo is sewn on the back in yellow tackle twill. Proper tagging exists inside the rear collar including the Sand-Knit manufacturer's size 44 label accompanied by a "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Utah Jazz" tag. Adjacent are three sewn-on strip tags reading "86" (year), "2"LB-LS" (length), and a white one with Stockton's uniform number "12" marked in black pen. The sweater exhibits solid wear with significant pilling in the 100% Creslan Acrylic fabric. It also carries an aroma of heavy usage. For the record, during the '86-87 season, Stockton averaged 7.9 points and 8.2 assists per game; he would become the team's starting point guard the following year and never look back.
