The 1986-87 NBA season saw superstar Hall of Famer Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls put up the highest scoring average of his illustrious 15-year career: 37.1 points per game. It was just his third NBA season and would prove to be the only campaign in which he surpassed the 3,000-point total by registering 3,041. Playing in all 82 regular-season games, MJ tallied 1,098 field goals (only 12 three-pointers) and 833 free throws, both career highs. He also averaged 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.9 steals, and shot a career best 85.7% from the line, culminating in a runner-up finish in the MVP voting. The Bulls finished with a 40-42 regular season record before getting swept by the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. MJ scored 35, 42 and 30 in those three losses.

Featured here is Jordan's game-worn and autographed Chicago Bulls home jersey from that incredible season. The size 44 Sand-Knit white mesh jersey was consigned by Kerry Sullivan, a former Bulls ball boy who worked in that capacity for the team from 1987 to '89. His father, Bob Sullivan, worked as the Bulls’ team statistician during the Doug Collins’ era and was usually seated at the scorer’s table, just a few seats down from the head coach. As the letter of provenance explains, the jersey was given to the elder Sullivan by the Bulls’ equipment manager. Several years ago, Bob Sullivan ended up gifting the jersey to his son where it has stayed for more than a decade. The jersey shows moderate game use, with minor sweat discoloration and a few soiling stains. The team name "BULLS" along with Jordan's iconic "23" are screen pressed in Appliqué on the front in red with black trim, with the collar and arms trimmed in red, white and black. There is a faint but noticeable white streaking line down the "3" on front, perhaps made by an opponent attempting to disrupt an MJ drive to the hoop. On the reverse, his name appears in red above his number in red and black trim. The tagging on the left shirttail denotes the size "44" and "Designed and Tailored Exclusively for the Chicago Bulls" along with the manufacturer’s info. Jordan has signed the No. 2 on the the back in 8/10 silver paint pen. What a special treat for the hobby: an early career gamer from His Airness with impeccable provenance.

Includes detailed Letter of Provenance from former Bulls ball boy, Kerry Sullivan, as well as a letter from MEARS (Graded A7). The only deductions are for the level of wear. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
