Julius Erving, the great “Dr. J,” was the 1981 MVP who guided the Philadelphia 76ers to an NBA title two years later. Standing 6’ 7”, Erving could control the flow of a game with his high-flying, acrobatic slam-dunks, as well as his pinpoint shooting touch from the outside. Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993, he was named one of the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History" in 1996 when the league celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

This lot features a game-worn Sixers home jersey from Erving’s last season (1986-87) as a professional. During that particular campaign, the 36-year-old small forward played in 60 regular-season games for Philly, averaging 16.8 points and 4.4 boards per outing. Sporting proper tagging on the left front tail, the 100% nylon mesh jersey includes the “Sand Knit” manufacturer’s tag (size 40) positioned below another “Sand-Knit” tag reading: “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Philadelphia 76ers National Basketball Association.” A pair of sewn-on strip tags are also present: “86” (reflecting the season) and “2” LB” (additional length). The front of the jersey shows a very vibrant blue tackle twill uniform number (“6”) outlined in red along with “SIXERS” across the middle in like fashion. His last name “ERVING” arches across the back in blue just above his uniform number “6” in blue tackle twill outlined in red. The official embroidered NBA logo patch appears on the left shoulder. The jersey shows appropriate wear with some puckering around the letters, yet remains in outstanding, problem-free and unaltered condition.
