This intriguing 18-by-25-inch black-and-white broadside poster (light cardboard / heavy stock paper like they would use for Boxing Matches) dates from the Golden Era of Professional Wrestling (1984) and depicts more details than you could ever imagine from an historic wrestling moment when a generation of legendary wrasslers descended on the Island of Hawaii for an extravagant event that would feature 31 professional wrestlers in 11 matches. This Wrestling promotion was actually put on by the Rock’s (yes, Dwayne The Rock Johnson) grandmother, Lia Maivia (the mother of the Rock’s Mom and mother-in-law of wrestling superstar; Rocky Maivia). This was in honor of the Christmas 1984 International Memorial Tribute to High Chief Peter Maivia (legendary wrestler who passed away in 1982). The Rock was just 10 years old at the time of the match. In fact, the Rock’s Dad, Rocky Johnson was on the bill that night as well as Super Fly Jimmy Snuka.Iconic stars such as Andre the Giant, Super Samoan, Super Fly Toi, Leroy Brown, Mighty Milo, Samoan No. 3 and Prince Kamchameha headlined a marathon event that took place at the NBC Arena In Honolulu on Dec. 19, 1984 and included in its elaborate billing the Polynesian Pacific Tag Team Championship. The poster presents in Excellent condition but has been folded across the middle.
