Trio of boxed medals from the 1984 Olympic Games.

1) 1984 Los Angeles Summer Participation Medal. Made of bronze. Minted by Jostens. 60mm in diameter; 5 mm thick; 94 grams. Designed by Dugald Stermer. Obverse - Olympic torch. Reverse - Los Angeles Olympic emblem over Olympic rings and laurel branches. A total of 12,500 medals were delivered (7,000 to the USC Village, 4,500 to the UCLA Village and 1,000 to the UCSB Village) in time to be distributed with the athletes’ and officials’ gift packs. Additional medals were delivered for IOC/NOC officials (1,400) and technical officials/jury members (2,000). Comes in original blue velvet presentation case and blue & white box.

2) 1984 Los Angeles Summer Volunteer Medal. Designed by Dugland Sterner and minted by Jostens. Same size as regular participation medal. Obverse - Olympic motto "Citius Altius Fortius" over L.A. Coliseum. Reverse - Los Angeles Olympic emblem. The '84 Summer Games had 1,750 staff members and roughly 60,000 volunteers. Each volunteer received one of these for their contributions. Comes in original blue velvet presentation case enclosed in white box. Lining inside box is coming apart.

3) 1984 Olympic Friendship Medallion celebrating both the Sarajevo Winter Games and Los Angeles Summer Games. 18 mm in diameter. Issued by Organizing Committees of both games. Comes in original brown presentation case.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
