Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew played 19 seasons in the major leagues, the last seven with the California Angels. Originally a 2nd baseman, then later a 1st baseman, Carew finished his illustrious career with 3,053 hits and a lifetime batting average of .328. He earned A.L. Rookie of the Year honors in 1967 and was A.L. MVP in 1977. in His outstanding play earned him first-ballot induction into Cooperstown in 1991. Carew’s special jersey #29 is retired by the Angels.

This lot features Carew’s impressive California Angels game worn pullover jersey from the 1983 season era based on the jersey’s manufacturer’s tagging. Sewn across the front in red and blue tackle twill is “Angels” (with a super cool gold halo over the “A”), with Carew’s number “29” appearing just below the team name in similar tackle twill fashion. The back of the jersey reads “CAREW” stitched directly across the back in red and blue tackle twill with his number “29” appearing below. The lower front tail has the proper “Wilson” [size 42] manufacturer’s size tag with an “83” patch sewn just above it. The right shoulder displays a state of California patch, with a gold halo at the top and a gold star marking the team’s Anaheim home. The jersey reveals evidence of nice game use with some light stains.

Carew has signed the front of the jersey in large black marker and a Beckett LOA accompanies the piece.
