Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew played 19 seasons in the major leagues, the last seven of which were spent competing for the then-California Angels where he averaged batting .314 and helped lead the Halos to the 1982 A.L. playoffs. The steady second sacker and sometimes first baseman finished his illustrious career with 3,053 hits and a lifetime batting average of .328. His outstanding play earned him first-ballot induction into Cooperstown in 1991, capturing more than 90% of the vote.

This lot features his gray road California Angels game worn pullover jersey from the 1982-84 era based on the jersey’s manufacturer’s tagging. Sewn across the front in red and blue tackle twill is “Angels” (with gold halo encircling the “A”) with Carew’s number “29” appearing just below the team name in similar tackle twill fashion. The back of the jersey reads “CAREW” stitched directly across the back in red and blue tackle twill with his number “29” appearing below. The lower front tail boasts the proper “W.A. Goodman & Sons” [size 42] manufacturers’ size tag. The left shoulder reveals the Angels insignia patch. The jersey reveals evidence of nice game use with light dirt stains on the left shoulder couple with some loose stitching.

Includes LOA from MEARS with a perfect A10 grade.
