The Beastie Boys started out in the early 1980s punk scene, but by 1984 had fully transitioned to world of rap and hip hop. An opening spot on Madonna’s 1985 tour was followed by the release of “Licensed to Ill,” the first rap album to reach number 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. This photo of the band with DJ Hurricane was taken by Ross Marino in 1987. The band’s trademark swagger and swag are on full display in this resplendent studio portrait. The photo shows some edge wear and nice toning throughout. The reverse has the London Features International Ltd. Stamping along with Ross Marino/L.F.I. stamp. The photograph measures 5 3/4” x 8” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
