What more apropos artifact from the all-time base stealing king can there be than a cool pair of Rickey Henderson spikes from the early 1980's? He performed his particular magic for nine teams from 1979 to 2003, including four stints with his original team, the Oakland Athletics. Nicknamed "The Man of Steal", he is widely regarded as the sport's greatest leadoff hitter and base stealer. He holds major league records for career stolen bases, runs scored, unintentional walks and leadoff home runs. At the time of his last major league game in 2003, the 10-time American League (AL) All-Star ranked among the sport's top 100 all-time home run hitters and was its all-time leader in base on balls. In 2009, he was inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot appearance. The sparkling white and green leather Brooks shoes hail from that 1980's stretch with Oakland when Henderson virtually revolutionized the game by topping the 100-steal mark three times in six years from 1979-84. The Size 9 1/2 shoes have "Brooks" imprinted in white on a green heel protective piece; the Brooks cloth label appear5s on the tongue flap of his right shoe, and his No. 35 is hand written in green marker on the inside of each tongue flap. The shoes show game use and are yet remarkably pristine, with blazing green laces bright blue insole padding intact and without incident. Henderson has signed his autograph on the left side of each heel on the white leather, adding his No. 35 inscription.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
