Bobby Murcer was hailed as the "Next Mickey Mantle" when he came to the Yankees in the mid 1960s. Tougher shoes would be impossible to fill during the era, let alone in the Bronx. Murcer and Mantle had a great realationship, partly because of their Oklahoma roots and ultimately because they both ended up being Yankees legends. The pair had so much in common, it would be impossible for them to not have some sparks. They were both found by the same scout over a decade apart, Tom Greenwade, they both had to make the switch from shortstop to centerfield when they came up to the Yankees and their home state heritage was magnetic. Featured here is a Louisville Slugger Mantle bat (35") signed by The Mick to his friend. "To My Favorite Oakie Bobby Murcer You are a Great Friend, Mickey Mantle" is signed on the barrel end in 9/10 black felt tip. Originates from the Bobby Murcer Collection from 2016. Accompanied by a Letter of provenance from Murcer family and a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
