These two items originated from Don Drysdale's personal collection and were most likely worn by "Big D" at Spring Training when he assisted with young pitchers. The cap is 1985-87 based on New Era tagging. "53" marked in black under the bill. The Dodger blue button-down windbreaker has No. "53" marked in black behind the collar. Goodman & Sons size XXL (first X penned in blue) tagging found inside the front bottom buttons. Adding to the authenticity of the jacket are the contents of the left side pocket: two unopened sticks of Bazooka Joe and Black Jack bubble gum, Pacific Telephone matches, a note with a person's contact info, and a business card for "Ultra-Sauna baths" in San Gabriel, CA. It seems that Drysdale wore this jacket casually as well. This lot was originally sold in the Drysdale Collection we featured at auction a few years ago.
