Since beginning his career in 1975, Dick Bavetta never missed an assigned game. He holds the league record for most officiated games (2,635) and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. On the inner rear collar of this Dick Bavetta NBA game-worn referee jersey is the Alpha Sportswear Inc. manufacturer's tag with size "MEDIUM" flag tag. On the left inseam is the "100% POLYESTER" tag. On the left chest is the large official "NBA" logo embroidered in red, white and blue. Across the back is a large rectangle with the referee number "27" in blue tackle twill with a red tackle twill border on white tackle twill. The shirt shows game wear and is largely as-issued and problem free. It's an important artifact from the most prolific and most influential officials in league history. According to the consignor, the shirt originated in the personal collection of longtime ABA/NBA trainer Ray Melchiorre who spent the majority of his career with the Boston Celtics.
