This is a spectacular jersey of enormous historical import, worn by one of the greatest hitters in baseball history, Rod Carew, who slapped out 3,053 career hits, good for a .328 career batting average en route to enshrinement in Cooperstown in 1991. The jersey is also from Carew’s 12th and final season as a member of the Minnesota Twins, a bittersweet moment as the great Carew would hit .333 and win his seventh and final batting crown along the way. Remarkably, the shirt is autographed twice by the Hall of Famer, adding his induction date with each. This powder blue pullover knit jersey features "Twins” across the chest in red-on-navy tackle twill, the same scheme used for Carew's famed No. 29 front and back. “Carew” is across the shoulders on the back in red tackle twill. Each sleeve and the collar bear a navy, white and red elastic stripe accent and the left sleeve bears the Twins embroidered patch. The Wilson Size 42 manufacturer’s wash tag appears on the back of the collar and a white strip tag has navy blue embroidered “78 2.” The Hall of Famer has signed in blue Sharpie on the front, adding “HOF 91”; on the back, the signature and inscription are done in silver Sharpie on his No. 29. Jersey shows game use, with virtually no fraying of the delicate black and red stitching front and back and a bit more fraying of some of the stitching on the embroidered Twins patch and is otherwise problem-free and without alteration of any description.
