Joe Namath is one of football's legendary quarterbacks and Hall of Famer who famously "guaranteed" a victory in Super Bowl III. The AFL New York Jets 16-7 win over the NFL Baltimore Colts in The Orange Bowl in Miami is regarded as one of the greatest upsets in football history.
From Beaver Falls, PA and then the University of Alabama, Namath was nicknamed "Broadway Joe" after landing as a pro with the upstart AFL New York squad. His talent and charisma have led him to be one of the most popular celebrities of our time.
Presented here is a stunning Namath game-used preseason/practice worn green and white mesh Jets jersey from the mid-1970's. The style and outer placement of the Champion manufacturer tag is from the mid-1970's with the indicated size "L" and wash instructions. The front and back number "12" are screen printed in white. The same number "12" are screen printed in green on the sleeves for TV identification and have the classic green plasticized striping. On the back "NAMATH" is screen printed in white. The jersey exhibits moderate game-used characteristics and appears to have no alterations.
Included is a Letter of Provenance that the jersey originated from Philip H. Iselin, President of the New York Jets. Jersey authentication by MEARS. (Please note that the jersey is not signed).
