Though drafted by the L.A. Lakers in the 5th round of the 1969 ABA Draft, Wil Jones opted for the upstart ABA and signed with the Miami Floridians. The 6’-8” power forward made the rounds of the colorful ABA, with stops in Miami, Memphis, and Kentucky before switching to the NBA with Indiana and Buffalo. Jones donned this incredibly scarce uniform set during his solitary ABA All-Star appearance in 1973. The red jersey has “WEST” and his number “11” across the front in white with the armholes and neck opening trimmed in white. The back has “W.JONES” and his number “11” in white. The jersey still has the original size 44 Rawlings label and cleaning tags. The matching shorts are trimmed in white and have the original Rawlings size 34 label sewn inside the waistband. The bright colored jersey and shorts show evident wear with some loose threads throughout. A rarely encountered All-Star ensemble from the heyday of the legendary ABA.
Includes LOA from Wil Jones.
