One of only 7 GEM MINT PSA 10's. J. R. Richard spent all of his brief 10 year career with the Houston Astros, winning over 60% of his games. From 1976 through 1980 he was one of the premier pitchers in the National League until struck by tragedy in mid-season 1980. Half way to another stellar season with a 10-4 record, Richard suffered a stroke before a game on July 30, 1980. He never was able to pitch again. His 313 strike outs in 1979 still stands as the all time Astro record.
