If you had to pick just one photograph to illustrate actor and martial arts superstar Bruce Lee, this would be the one. This Type 1 photo was taken on the set of Lee’s breakthrough movie, 1972’s “Fists of Fury.” The soon to be famous action star is captured sailing through the air just before taking on a group of knife wielding enemies below. This dramatic shot became iconic when it was used as the main image on the poster advertising “Fist of Fury.” Printed on billboards, posters and newspaper ads throughout the world and subsequently reproduced and copied millions of times since, this is original from which our primary visual image of Bruce Lee derives. The Type 1 photo measures 8” x 10” and has some light edge wear. The image has taken on a nice golden sepia tone with age and will display beautifully. The reverse features the National General Pictures caption slug along with the catalog number “FF-6.” Please note that this lot does not include the poster; image is shown for context. This piece has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 Authentic by PSA.
