Managed by Ralph Houk, the Yankees finished second in the AL in 1970, 15 games behind the eventual World Champion Baltimore Orioles. They won 93 games, more than any other season since 1964. Leftfielder Roy White and second baseman Horace Clarke led the team’s offense with batting averages of .290 and .285, respectively. Late in '69 young catcher Thurman Munson was summoned from the minors to the Bronx and he won Rookie of the Year honors the year his signed this ball. The 1970 team ball has 24 ink signatures -- most faded to 5/10 appeal -- including the coveted rookie Munson (5/10), Clarke, Blefary, Gene Michael, Lyttle, Kenney, Hansen, Cater, Pete Ward (bold blue), Aker, Gibbs, McDaniel, Kekich, Ellis, Hamilton, Woods, and All-Stars Mel Stottlemyre (SS), Fritz Peterson and White. The Official Pro League ball remains in a nice, creamy EX-MT condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (AG02523), which states "1970 Yankees" is in unknown hand.
