Offered here is a signed Braves home jersey worn by Hall of Famer Hoyt Wilhelm during the '70 season in his first of two stints in Atlanta in his legendary 21-year career. This white flannel, blue-pinstriped, button-down garment bears "Braves" angled across the chest (in cursive) in blue tackle twill and Wilhelm's No. 39 applied to the back in like fashion. The left sleeve features the Braves' iconic Native American mascot patch, which is partially covered by a black mourning band, sewn to the jersey in remembrance of former Atlanta manager Billy Southworth (Southworth died in November, 1969). A "Wilson" size "42" manufacturer's tag is situated upon the left front tail and within the collar, a strip tag reads "Wilhelm - 1970 - Set 2," which is chain stitched in blue cursive characters. Wilhelm's striking blue-marker signature graces the jersey's right front tail. The item reveals evidence of moderate wear and shows no signs of repair or alteration.

Includes a LOA from MEARS (Grade A10).

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
