Former NBA standout forward and head coach Billy Cunningham broke into the NBA in 1965 when he was selected fifth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for the Sixers during his first seven NBA seasons, before departing temporarily for the ABA as a member of the Carolina Cougars for two years. He eventually came back to the Sixers and played two more seasons before retiring after the 1975-76 campaign. During the course of his nine seasons in the NBA, he averaged 20.8 points and four assist per game.

This lot features Cunningham’s 1970-71 Philadelphia 76ers game worn home warm-up jacket. This was another sensational season for the future Naismith Hall of Famer as he averaged 23 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. The white zip-up jacket boasts a red tackle twill “7” and a blue tackle twill “6” encircled by 13 red tackle twill stars on the left chest area. The inside rear interior collar is sporting the proper “PEARSON SPORTING GOODS” manufacturer’s tagging and the garment certainly exhibits solid wear. The reverse reads “PHILADELPHIA” in arched red tackle twill outlined in blue with “76 ers” in similar fashion just below it. The matching white pants include red-and-white stripes alongside either pant leg and its original white draw cord remains intact. On the inner waistband can be found the proper “PEARSON SPORTING GOODS” label with a pair of embroidered cloth tags reading: “46-31-32-70” and “36x34-32-70.” An outstanding piece of game worn Philly memorabilia from one of the game’s best.
