The ABA was a colorful league, literally and figuratively, and the apparel from many of the teams is classic and iconic among basketball aficionados. Such a team was the Pittsburgh Pipers.

Presented here is a colorful and heavy Pipers warmup jacket, attributed to forward LeRoy Wright. The bold orange and blue lettering and trim look absolutely beautiful on the white fleece. It is a Wilson size 48 with the numer 24 written in marker on the tag, Mr. Wright's uniform number on the '67-68 squad. The jacket shows very limited wear.

The Pittsburgh Pipers only existed in 1967-68, the inaugural season for the ABA, which was an ABA championship year for the Steel City squad. The Pipers beat Doug Moe & Larry Brown's New Orleans Buccaneers in the ABA Finals.

Chronicled in the book FOUL by David Wolf, the Pipers were led by the legendary Connie Hawkins, Art Heyman, Charlie Williams, Chico Vaughn, and other contributors including Mr. Wright.
