Pete Rose won three World Series rings, three batting titles and two Gold Gloves but the achievement on the diamond that will forever define his major league career is his record 4,256 hits. This prized flannel garment was worn by baseball's all-time hit king Pete Rose during the early stages of his Cincinnati Reds tenure, the formative phase of what would evolve into “The Big Red Machine.” After many years of utilizing sleeveless vest style jerseys the Reds employed this specific sleeved, pinstriped style combo for the lone season of 1967. It is hard to find a single other example of a 1967 Reds home jersey in the hobby, much less one donned by the great “Charlie Hustle.” This extraordinary one-year style home flannel jersey bears the teams embroidered logo patch on the left front breast and features the number "14" on the right breast and reverse. "Rose" is lettered on the reverse above the number. A "MacGregor Set 2 1967" label is stitched inside the right front tail. The number “3” appears in blue chain stitch above and the washing instructions tag appears below. Rose has signed the jersey twice on the front with his notation "1967" added to his signature on the right breast. He has added his signature and “1967” notation to the back of the jersey as well. The jersey remains completely original and unaltered, showing ideal usage wear with outstanding overall display quality. In just his 5th full season, Rose’s 1967 campaign saw him earn his second of an eventual 17 All-Star appearances. Rose flannels are rare and highly coveted by collectors, especially when seen with the ideal physical traits of the offered example. Add the rare one-year style factor and the fact that this is among the earliest all-original Rose jerseys in existence and it becomes clear that this is an opportunity not to be missed.
