In a fitting tribute to an incomparable career, the Baseball Writers of America voted to induct Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams into the Hall of Fame along with famed New York Yankee skipper Casey Stengel as Cooperstown's Class of 1966. The offered baseball was signed at the induction ceremony and includes honorees Williams and Stengel along with an interesting assortment of others. Among them are Stan Musial, Warren Giles, Mrs. Christy Mathewson and William Eckert. Eckert was baseball’s fourth commissioner, assuming the mantle after his predecessor, Ford C. Frick, served for 14 years. Eckert’s time as the leader of Major League Baseball was much shorter, spanning from 1965 to 1968, but the former lieutenant general in the Air Force brought much needed innovations to the sport. Ball is toned and lightly soiled with signatures averaging 7-8/10. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
