Freshly graded by PSA, this perfectly autographed Willie Mays #250 base card from the 1965 Topps set received a 10 autograph along with a respectable VG 3 designation for the card itself. Prone to soft corners and surface issues, '65 Topps remains a challenge to procure any examples in above-average condition. And while the grade may seem low by number standards, this one certainly qualifies as better than most with great centering and vibrant colors. The only VG in the PSA pop, it stands now as the fifth-highest dual-grade example, the highest being EX-MT 6. (Of course, we don't know how many of those got 10 auto grades.)
Most importantly, the Say Hey Kid's fine blue pen autograph is perfectly executed across his road gray Giants uniform. Our consignor, who built an amazing collection of vintage autographed cardboard over several decades, got this card signed by Mays in-person at a collectibles show many years ago.
