Catfish Hunter’s rookie card from the scarcer "high number series" of the 1965 Topps issue is seldom seen in crisp, untouched condition. And none to the degree that this lone PSA GEM MINT 10 graded example remains. Every attribute is perfectly rendered and undisturbed since this card’s production nearly decades ago. Hunter was the ace of the powerful Oakland Athletics of the mid 70's, who won 3 straight World Series Titles from 1972-74. Starting in 1971 through 1975 he had five straight seasons of 20 or more wins, leading the American League in 1974 and 1975 with 25 and 23 wins respectively. In 1974 with Oakland he won the American League Cy Young Award. In fifteen years he posted a 224-166 record with a 3.26 ERA, earning election to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987.
