ADDENDUM: Please note that the player name GROAT on the back of this jersey has been expertly restored and is not original to the jersey.

The addition of 1960 National League MVP and Batting Champion Dick Groat to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1963 proved to be one of the missing pieces that helped propel the club to the World Championship in 1964, the second world title for Groat who snagged his first in that remarkable 1960 campaign with the Pirates. The two-sport standout (he also played basketball professionally) wore this incredible home gamer during the 1964 season when he batted .286 and made his eighth and final All-Star squad. The light cream shirt is simply spectacular, with Rawlings Size 42 tagging on the front left tail directly above embroidered "Groat 64" in Cardinal red. A wash instructions tag appears on the inside of the tail, with "Set 1 1964" flag tag attached. The famed Cardinals logo with bat and birds appears on the front, with the original Cardinal red and blue No. 24 in felt front and back. The name "Groat" in block letters across the top is an expertly restored version of the original name was previously removed. Four ventilation holes appear beneath each armpit (as made). The important shirt shows game use and is truly an important artifact in superb condition from one of the true National League greats of the era.
