During his Major League Baseball career, Dal Maxvill played, coached, or was an executive for four World Series winners and seven league champions and signed his first professional baseball contract in 1960 with his hometown St. Louis Cardinals. A shortstop as a player, Maxvill collected 748 hits during his 16-year career and knocked in 252 runs.

This lot features a 1964 Dal Maxvill autographed and game-worn St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap, the same season the cards won it all by outlasting the vaunted New York Yankees in a seven-game Fall Classic. The Rawlings navy blue wool cap (size 7) is sporting the official Cardinals “STL” logo embroidered in red on the front and outlined in white, and shows exceptional wear around the brown inside leather liner. On the underside of the brim one will note Maxvill’s uniform number “27” in black marker, while he has signed the same area of the cap’s brim in blue marker and even added this inscription: “My 1964 World Series Hat.” In said World Series, Maxvill played I all seven games and batted .200 by going 4-for-22 with one RBI. His signature is strong and would rate 8-9/10 in our book.

Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
