In 1963, the hard-charging Chicago Bears were coached by legendary Hall of Famer George Halas and posted a league-best record of 11-1-2. In the NFL Championship Game, they defeated the New York Giants, 14-10. A third-quarter, one-yard scoring plunge by quarterback Billy Wade proved to be the difference. This lot features an aged team-signed Wilson football from that year’s squad that boasts 25 signatures including those of Halas and fellow Hall of Famers' tight end Mike Ditka, defensive end Doug Atkins and two-way lineman Stan Jones. Other notable signatures include running backs Joe Marconi and Ronnie Bull, as well as backup QB Rudy Bukich. Most of the signatures are in green ink.
Includes Letter of Provenance from the San Diego Hall of Champions.
