Offered is Mickey Mantle’s MVP card from the 1961 Topps release, the summer that he and Yankees teammate Roger Maris battled it out for the record 61 home run season. Though Maris was the one to break Babe Ruth’s record, Mantle still finished with a career-best 54 big flies. The PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 example offered here has perfect centering on the front, a super clean surface, and snowy-white borders. The centering issues on the back seem to be the only thing keeping this beauty from achieving an even higher grade.
