Andy Carey was a solid third baseman for the New York Yankees (1952–1960) and three other major league teams from 1960 to 1962. In an 11-year career, he had a .260 batting average, with 64 home runs, and 350 RBIs. He had 741 career hits. Carey led the league in triples in 1955 with 11. This jersey was worn by Carey in his first season with Kansas City in 1960. The shirt is in fine condition yet showing game use. The red-on-navy blue felt script "Athletics" on the front and his No. 1 on the back are also in great condition, as is the iconic "Elephant" mascot patch in chenille stitching on the left sleeve. The seven-button front and collar is showcased by the navy blue piping, which also appears at the end of the sleeves. The shirt carries the Wilson Size 42 tag on the collar; "Set 1 1960 - 1" is embroidered in navy blue stitching on the front-left tail, directly atop a small section of inverted "L" shaped team repair in white thread.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
