The 1959 Home Run Derby baseball set consists of 20 black-and-white cards measuring 3-1/4” by 5-1/4”. American Motors produced this unnumbered issuance to coincide with the abundantly popular Home Run Derby television series. Each blank-backed card displays a player posing “in-action” or as portraits with their name and team at the bottom. In this example, the legendary centerfielder Willie Mays is shown in his batting stance, no doubt ready to smack another bomb out of the yard. The black-and-white card presents well with a clean surface.
