Nellie Fox was a Chicago White Sox favorite during the 1950s and '60s. Fox cards and autographed memorabilia are held in high regard by collectors. Fox was a 15-time All-Star and won the American League MVP award in 1959, the season that he led the White Sox to the World Series.

Fox passed away in 1975 at the young age of 47, so Fox's autographed memorabilia is somewhat rare. He was a willing signer during his career and after his retirement, but he passed away prior to the expanded popularity of the sports collectibles hobby.

As a result, he never participated in large, organized signing events. So a beautifully signed 1959 Topps #400 card of Fox is a special treat.

PSA/DNA has deemed this a MINT 9 autograph. Even though signed in pencil, it is a sharp signature on a sweet spot of the card. The pencil penmanship from Fox adds to the charm, the innocence of the era, "perfectly imperfect" and validates it was signed at or around the time of the card's issue.
