Playing his entire career for a franchise that was unrivaled as a National League behemoth in the Midwest for nearly 100 years, Stan Musial reigned as the face of the St. Louis Cardinals through the 1940's, 1950's and into the early 1960's. Nicknamed "Stan the Man," he is widely considered to be one of the greatest hitters in baseball history, compiling 3,630 career hits (fourth all time). Though the denizens of the Borough of Brooklyn would likely never believe it, his legendary hitting abilities were identical at home in St. Louis and on the road, with 1,815 career hits at home and 1,815 away--a curious hallmark of a level of consistency almost unimaginable in modern times. He hit 475 home runs during his career, was named the National League's Most Valuable Player three times, and won three World Series championships. He shares the MLB record for the most All-Star Games played (24) with Hank Aaron and Willie Mays, and of course was a first-ballot inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969. Known for his modesty and sportsmanship, Musial was selected for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team in 1999.

The offered jersey represents one of the finest known examples of its type and dates to the prime of Musial's hallowed career. This stunning one-year style Cardinals road jersey displays the team name in red and black felt script across the front with Musial's legendary No. 6 on the reverse. The Hall of Famer has signed in black Sharpie on the right front beneath the scripted Cardinals lettering. The embroidered Cardinals Redbird patch remains affixed to the sleeve with the Rawlings manufacturing 'Hall of Fame' tag on the front tail with a Size '44' adjacent flag tag. 'Musial 56' is chain-stitched in red onto the front tail as well. The interior front tail reveals a dry clean tag along with a 'Set 1 1956' flag tag. The jersey remains in outstanding original condition exhibiting fine general use while retaining superb display qualities.

Includes a Letter of Authenticity from MEARS (Graded A9) and a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum Collection.

Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
