Addendum: See bolded update below.

With Vince Lombardi as offensive coordinator, Tom Landry as defensive coordinator, and a Hall of Fame roster of Frank Gifford (MVP), Sam Huff, Rosey Brown and Andy Robustelli, it all came together for the New York Giants in 1956. Head coach Jim Lee Howell half-joked that “his main function was to make sure the footballs had air in them” (Lombardi biographer, David Maraniss). The G-Men went 8-3-1 in the regular season to earn a berth in the NFL Championship where they destroyed George Halas’ Chicago Bears at Yankee Stadium by the score of 47-7.

This offered 1956 New York Giants NFL Championship ring made by Dieges & Clust comes in 10-karat gold with a cubic zirconium atop a midnight blue stone on the face. The perimeter reads “N.Y. Giants - World Champions - N.Y. 47 – CHI. 7” in raised relief. One shank has “19” and the Giants team logo in the background of the New York City skyline. The other has “56” and the old “NFL” logo. The maker’s stamp along with a “10 Karat” hallmark are engraved inside the band. The size 11.75 ring (24 g) comes in NM-MT/MINT condition. It was presented to us as a staff ring. Based on its relatively new-looking appearance, it could be a contemporary replacement. We consulted an expert who confimed it is NOT a salesman sample.
