Offered here is a participation medal issued to one of the athletes participating at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics. Made of bronze and designed by Andor Meszaros, the specs are: 63 mm diamater, 4 mm thick, and 102 g. Obverse has Olympic motto encircled by pairs of athletes following the march of a flag-bearer. Reverse has Melbourne coat of arms and Olympic rings, with raised text along the rop rim, "Olympic Games Melbourne 1956." Appears in VF shape with minor wear. Has aged well overall with just a few tiny oxidation spots. Includes original clear plastic presentation case.
